I started TreadRecycle out of aggravation from seeing tire treads all over the public roads.  On any given day, you can't travel 1000 feet without seeing tire treads or scraps of tires on the shoulders of major highways...and if you're not so lucky, you may suddenly drive into one!  Not only is this an eyesore, it's environmentally unfriendly. 

I had a few ideas how to clean up this mess over the years, but time escaped me and I could never address this.  A lot of sweat equity goes into each key chain that I personally make.  Have you ever picked up tires and tried to load and unload them into a vehicle?  Have you ever tried to rip the steel belt off a tire with your bare hands!!!  I never realized how durable tires are!  No wonder they remain on the side of the road untouched!  Even the scraps I scavenge are tougher than any leather belt I've ever dealt with.
